Promise of Future

The neat stripes, the button eyes,

the deft dance, careful advance,

romanced the yellow, which

mellowed before the curves and angles

which all seemed perfect and felt right.

The fling didn’t last long.

But, ardent as it was, the affair,

Ended with a promise of future.
